A Guelph Original, Preserving the City That Shaped Him
My name is Wayne Wiebe, and Guelph will always be a part of who I am. I grew up in the Royal City — its streets, its neighbourhoods, its schools, its people — all of it shaped my early life and left me with memories that have stayed with me for decades.
Guelph wasn’t just the place I lived. It was home. A place of belonging, community, and history woven into everyday life. Even after moving on to new chapters, Guelph remained the city that built my foundation.
Why I Created Historic Guelph
Guelph is rich in history — deeper, more vibrant, and more meaningful than many realize. Its stories deserve to be preserved, shared, and passed on. Too much of our local heritage disappears with time, and I believe strongly that the memories of a city should never fade.
Historic Guelph is my way of giving back to the place that gave me so much. By collecting photos, stories, and historical pieces, I hope to:
- Keep Guelph’s past alive
- Honour the generations who built the city
- Help others reconnect with the Guelph they remember
- Create a space where history is shared, not forgotten
For many people — like me — Guelph will always be home, no matter where life takes us.
My Connection to the Community
